Considerations for the design of a perinatal mindfulness intervention for adolescents based on a systematic review of the literature

Objectives: This systematic review of the literature was conducted to determine best way design mindfulness interventions for perinatal adolescent mothers support mental health during transition parenthood and beyond. Perinatal adolescents face unique challenges compared adults due their developmental stage difficulties accessing social determinants health. Mindfulness educational may be an ideal addition supports foster resilience teach skills reduce stress, anxiety, depression.
 Methods: A search strategy developed identify articles from 6 electronic databases including PsycInfo, ProQuest, PubMed, Cochrane Library, Ovid, CINAHL. Qualitative analysis done which significantly decrease depression or stress components designs these interventions. Participants’ satisfaction with were analyzed, when available. Best practices designing used recommend adaptations tailor them population.
 Results: Of 561 studies retrieved search, 16 met inclusion criteria. All included found at last one significant in outcomes (stress 9 13, anxiety 9; 14). The majority began period, delivered face-to-face, homework, multiple sessions by a trained professional.
 Conclusion: are feasible, acceptable effective adult populations. Components could adapted increase cope challenges.
